INTERNATIONAL STUDENT FINANCIAL AFFIDAVIT

All international students entering the U.S. on an F-1 student visa must document their ability to meet all educational and living expenses for the entire period of their intended study before this University can issue a Form I-20. The Form I-20 is necessary to obtain an F-1 Student visa or to keep lawful status when transferring or changing schools within the U.S.

INSTRUCTIONS:
Part 1: Answer questions 1-5.
Part 2: In the first box, indicate the source(s) of your funding. In the boxes headed Year 1 and 2 indicate the amount (in U.S. dollars) available for each year of study. Be sure to include supplementary original documents as indicated. If you have more than one sponsor, each sponsor must verify the amounts and sign a financial affidavit.

All documentation must be no older than six months. You have been provided with an estimate of annual education and living costs for international students and should keep in mind that costs could increase each year and can change without notice. You must document financial support equal to or greater than this amount.

Scholarship, Grant, or Loan

Official scholarship, grant, or loan letter from the institution or agency providing the funding. The award letter must contain the name of the applicant, the amount of money available for each year of study and contact information of the sponsoring agency.

Dependents
If you intend to bring dependent family members (spouse, children) with you to the United States, you must also provide:

Attached form (“Dependents”- pages 5-6).
Additional funding of at least $4,000 per dependent to cover their living expenses.

The University at Albany reserves the right to require additional financial documentation and/or prepayment from applicants whose countries impose currency exchange restrictions or other obstacles to the transfer of currency. Applicants from such countries will be notified of specific requirements when they have submitted complete applications.
